Polymer Science And Engineering : Overview

The Polymer Science and Engineering Division at CSIR-NCL perform cutting edge scientific and applied research and hence has consistently been a valuable partner for industry, academia and government. With competencies ranging from monomer synthesis to product development, the group prides itself of being able to contribute to every single process in the life cycle of a polymer. The key knowledge competencies currently existing in the PSE group include Polymerization Chemistry, Polymerization Catalysis, Membrane Science & Technology, Materials Characterization, Structure-Property Relationships, Blends and Composites, Polymer Processing, Theory and Simulations, Biomass and Biorenewables, Conducting Polymers, Biomimetic Polymers and gels, Controlled Release Formulations and 3D printing & Additive Manufacturing. Empowered by talented faculty, world class facilities and seamless integration, PSE provides end-to-end solution and has become the preferred destination of polymer industry in the country. The division contributes to various national missions including energy security, access to clean water, protection of the environment, cost effective materials and affordable healthcare. PSE has established Center of Excellence (CoE) research labs to nurture upcoming technologies, which is exemplified by a dedicated CoE for 3D printing and additive manufacturing that caters to the demands of industry.
